February 2008 Classes at
Muse Le Belle Artiste Gallery & Art Center
Muse Le Belle Artiste Gallery & Holistic Center has announced its February classes and events.
Following on the heels of January's successful opening reception for the new exhibition, "The Four Seasons," Muse owner Laurie Whitehead has scheduled "An Afternoon of Art and Jazz" for Sunday, February 24, at 2:30 pm. Returning musicians are The Willimantic Amphibian Jazz Ensemble including Bruce Bellingham, Joe Tomanelli, Phil Palonen, and Greg Yuska. The current exhibition features works by Connecticut artists Emine Cichowski, Catherine M. Elliott, Carol Frances Foley, and Anne Hebebrand. More than 250 people attended the January opening.
Special classes for February are:
Experimental Painting Workshop with Anne Hebebrand on Saturday, February 16, 10 am-4 pm, and Sunday, February 17, 1-5 pm. The acclaimed artist and teacher will share her techniques in a creative and expressive two-day painting workshop. Topics she will explore include developing ideas on what to paint; working with color; creating your own personal language; techniques such as washes, glazes and creating textures; and experimental approaches to putting down paint with untraditional tools. The cost of the two-day / ten-hour workshop is $175. Class size is limited. Registration is required by February 10. For more information, call 860.498.0307.
Group Fiddle Lessons with P.V. O'Donnell on Saturday, February 16 from 4-5 pm. Mr. O'Donnell is a popular and accomplished fiddler from Manchester. He teaches and performs on a regular basis and hosts the weekly Irish sessions at City Steam in Hartford every Wednesday.
COMING MARCH 9: Award-winning artist Catherine M. Elliott will give a live Impressionistic Oil Painting Demonstration on Sunday, March 9, 2-3:30 pm.
Yoga classes are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with Family Yoga offered on Saturdays. Tai chi is taught on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 am and Thursday evenings at 5:45. Many other classes are offered in art, music, creative movement and ballroom dancing. For a full schedule, please call 860.498.0307.
