MUSE NEWS: March 2008 CT Artists Exhibition, "The Four Seasons," Is Extended Through March 30
Coventry, CT - Laurie Bidwell Whitehead, owner of Muse Le Belle Artiste Gallery & Holistic Center in Old Coventry Village, has extended the current exhibition, The Four Seasons, to March 30. The exhibition showcases works by four award-winning Connecticut artists: Emine Cichowski, Catherine M. Elliott, Carol Frances Foley, and Anne Hebebrand.
Ballroom dancing instruction will begin Saturday afternoon in March. $15 per person, $25 per couple. Call for additional information.
Special events at the Muse in March will include: Celtic Fiddle Group Workshop with P.V. O'Donnell Saturday, March 1, Time to be determined, $18 per person, 25% discount for groups of 10+ The popular and accomplished fiddler from Manchester teaches and performs on a regular basis and hosts the weekly Irish sessions at City Steam in Hartford every Wednesday.
Drawing: The Essential Ingredient: A Four-Week Series with Shauna Shane Beginning March 5, 4:30 6:30 pm $75 per person for 4 weekly sessions, Group discounts available. Teenagers and adults, beginners and experienced artists will learn how to see shapes and values, understand the how and why of the drawing process, and confidently approach any subject. Ms. Shane has been painting landscapes, animals, still lifes and figures in watercolor, oil, and pastel, for 30 years. The former Resident Artist at Yellowstone National Park is an artist member of the Lyme Art Association and The CT Plein Air Society and her work is represented in galleries in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Montana and Florida.
Impressionistic Oil Painting Demonstration with Catherine M. Elliott Sunday, March 9, 2-3:30 pm $15 per person The award-winning Simsbury artist will focus on the joys of painting in an impressionistic style of painting, showing the importance of first being inspired to paint a subject, then carrying it through to completion. By observing methods of using grounds, exploring color concepts and using different media in oil paints, class participants will discover just how enjoyable the process of painting can be.
Gentle Kripalu Yoga with Sharon Coriaty Sunday, March 16, 4-5:30 pm Instruction will include sitting comfortably and correctly, meditation, breathing exercises, and other techniques design to erase tension.
Experimental Painting Workshop with Anne Hebebrand Saturday, March 29, 10 am-4 pm, and Sunday, March 30, 1-5 pm $175 for two-day, ten-hour workshop The Glastonbury artist will share her techniques in a two-day painting workshop. Topics she will explore include developing ideas on what to paint; working with color; creating your own personal language; techniques such as washes, glazes and creating textures; and experimental approaches to putting down paint with untraditional tools. Class size is limited. Registration is required by March 10.
